What Is the Responsible Care Program?
Responsible Care is the United States' leading performance improvement initiative for the safe handling of chemicals. It is the American Chemistry Council's (ACC) comprehensive environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) program wherein member and partner companies commit to advancing the safe and secure management of chemical products and processes. Since its inception in 1988, the Responsible Care program has led the way to a cleaner environment, safer facilities and a more secure nation. |

What Does It Mean to Be a Partner?
A non-manufacturer, LMS participates as a Responsible Care Partner and joins more than 200 companies working together to raise the standards of chemical operations and distribution nationwide. Specifically, Responsible Care Partners:
- Implement the ACC's Responsible Care Management SystemŽ, which provides a rigorous and structured framework for assessing a company's needs, setting specific goals and sharing progress and activities with the public.
- Undergo a third-party certification audit to ensure full implementation of the Responsible Care Management System.
- Continuously work to improve their environmental, health, safety and security practices.
