LMS Introduces TOTALHeat
Press Release - 11/18/2008
ST. LOUIS, MO – Logistics Management Solutions (LMS), a non-asset-based third party logistics provider, introduces TOTALHeat to provide shippers with a single, reliable source for their heated transportation needs.
Working with certified carrier partners, LMS created a network that relies solely on heated equipment to safely transport freight in cold climates. This no-blanket solution caters to chemical companies and other manufacturers of cold-sensitive products. LMS also employs its Web-native transportation management system, TOTAL, to facilitate freight tracking and tracing and provide shippers with consolidated weekly invoices.
“Many shippers are struggling to find heated transportation now that Jevic has exited the market,” says Dennis Schoemehl, president and CEO of LMS. “The equipment is out there, but it’s a matter of finding qualified carriers and then working with multiple providers. TOTALHeat enables shippers to work with one provider and track their freight through a single Web portal.”
Through TOTAL, shippers can track their freight in real time via any computer with an Internet connection. LMS also uses the system to retrieve up-to-the-minute information on its carriers. All TOTALHeat carriers are certified and insured, and qualified to transport hazardous materials.
TOTALHeat is also designed to leverage the collective freight activities of chemical shippers, which often share origin and destination points. LMS uses TOTAL’s freight optimization technology to identify opportunities for freight consolidations and continuous move tours among chemical companies to maximize capacity and reduce costs. These optimization practices are employed only when shippers’ safety and service requirements can be met. As a third party provider, LMS ensures proprietary data remains confidential and cost savings are equally distributed.
LMS is a non-asset-based, third party logistics provider that brings millions of dollars in transportation cost savings to some of the world’s best-known companies, including BASF, Monsanto and Johnson & Johnson. LMS combines Web-native technology with proven logistics practices to offer optimization, execution and data management services that maximize clients’ operational efficiencies.
