LMS Acquires Start-Up Logistics Company
Press Release - 7/20/2005

ST. LOUIS – Logistics Management Solutions (LMS), a non-asset-based third-party logistics provider, announced today that it has acquired St. Louis-based i-Logi LLC, which was founded in 2003 to provide consulting, contract management and online procurement solutions to large-volume shippers throughout North America.

Jeff Brasier, a former LMS employee who founded i-Logi, will join the LMS sales management team.

Key to the acquisition is i-Logi’s proprietary technology that enables companies to efficiently conduct transportation/warehousing bid packages via the Internet. LMS clients will have the option of using this technology, which can reduce bidding cycles by an average of 66 percent and cut overall freight costs by up to 8 percent.

LMS also acquired i-Logi clients Huttig Building Products of St. Louis and QPR, A Division of Lafarge North America, based in Alpharetta, Ga. As their logistics provider of record, LMS will perform contract management, shipping optimization and dispatching services.

“We are pleased to have Huttig and QPR as clients and look forward to building upon the relationship they have with i-Logi,” says Dennis Schoemehl, president and CEO of LMS. “We also feel our new technology will offer LMS clients a substantial advantage as we continue to work with them to find quality transportation providers that offer competitive pricing and premium service.”

LMS’ new bidding technology provides an electronic means of analyzing pricing proposals, distributing RFQs (Request For Quote) to logistics service providers, and awarding contracts to optimal providers. It encourages more competitive bids by employing a reverse auction methodology that allows providers to see how they rank among other bidders throughout the RFQ process. Using linear logic technology, the program analyzes lane, price and capacity information to assign a “grade” to each bidder. Bidders have the option of adjusting their proposals to earn higher grades and increase their chances of selection.

LMS is a non-asset-based, third-party logistics provider that brings millions of dollars in transportation cost savings to some of the world’s best-known companies, including BASF, Monsanto and The Scotts Company. We combine Web-enabled technology with proven logistics practices to offer optimization, execution and data management services that maximize our clients’ operational efficiencies.
